Go (I just want things to be simple)

"Go" is a song about the pace of modern life and was written in April of 2000.  I just remember feeling the pressure of living in an out-of-control pace of life that I didn't care for.  I'm the kind of person that would like to live in the wood by a lake in Vermont.  I like the people in these slower, smaller communities because of the more deliberate state of mind their in.  I like the relationships between the people and how time passes a bit slower when living like this.  This song is an expression of how out of sync I am with way of living.  Of course when you're a kid you don't noticed this because you don't have a care in the world for the most part, but as you get older and become an adult living in this world it becomes obvious this is not the most pleasant way to live.  At least not for me.

This song is currently being re-recorded

Verse 1

Up at six - Grind til five

Dreams on hold - Til I’m done with life

Coffee kicks, An hours drive

Again no sleep - And I’m almost fried

Chorus

They tell me

I got to get with impulse - Go with the flow

Sync with the motions - And go go go go

I just want things to be simple - Laid back and slow

Same old story - It’s go go go go go

Verse 2

Second wind - a bit off speed

debilitation growing like a weed

Compromises, financial fears

compensation for working all those years

Bridge

No way out, or way in

Forward march the work week

Is it a fable, myth, another twist, a 'cover up' discussed?

No 7 day weekends

Just a 40 hour, punch sheet

And the promise that the raise won’t pass you by

To Chorus

Outro

Now’s my chance

I’ve got to go go go go go
